San Jose, CA – July 1, 2024 – Hope Services is pleased to announce the appointment of Aila Malik as Interim CEO.

Aila brings over two decades of championing social change across various contexts, including homeless shelters, homes for the mentally disabled, the juvenile justice system, foster care, and mainstream public schools.

Her extensive background as a non-profit executive, community-based organization trainer, and adjunct lecturer in Juvenile Justice at Santa Clara University School of Law and Lincoln Law School makes her uniquely qualified to guide Hope Services at this pivotal time.

“We are thrilled to have Aila join us as Interim CEO,” said Tom McGovern, Board Chair of Hope Services. “Her diverse experience and commitment to improving the lives of those in need align perfectly with our mission. We are confident that Aila’s leadership will continue to advance our goals and support our participants effectively.”

Aila’s expertise extends beyond national borders, with significant contributions to international conservation, employment, and poverty alleviation efforts. She holds a BS in Environmental Science from UC Santa Barbara and earned her JD from Santa Clara University. Aila is also a member of the California Bar Association, a recipient of the 2011 ABA Child Advocate of the Year Award, and a Berkeley Law Foundation fellow.

As Hope Services continues its search for a permanent CEO, the organization remains committed to improving the quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities. Aila’s leadership will ensure the continued excellence of Hope Services’ programs and support for over 3,800 participants.
