Jenny’s Journey to Hawaii

This summer, Jenny enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime vacation to the Hawaiian Islands. What made this trip extraordinary was that Jenny, a Supported Living participant at Hope Services, was accompanied by her full-time supported living staff member, whose daily supported would continue all the way to Hawaii.

Overcoming Nerves and Embracing Adventure

Jenny’s trip was filled with unforgettable moments. She tried snorkeling, took a scenic train ride through fields of exotic animals, and basked in the sun on the beach. Jenny was initially apprehensive about snorkeling, but her adventurous spirit led her to try new things, and she ended up having a blast in the water. Getting her out of the ocean was a challenge—she was hooked!

The Power of Collaboration

Jenny’s trip to Hawaii was not a spur-of-the-moment decision. It was the result of meticulous planning and collaboration between Jenny, her family, and her dedicated support staff. With a 24/7 support system in place, Jenny’s family knows her staff well, creating a seamless partnership.

Over several months, Jenny, her family, and her support staff researched activities and attractions she might enjoy. Jenny’s family purchased cruise tickets, flights, and hotel stays, while her support staff at Hope Services helped ensure her travel documents were in order. The entire home staff contributed to packing for the trip, ensuring Jenny had everything she needed.

Constant Communication and Care

During their time in Hawaii, Jenny’s support staff stayed in direct contact with Hope Services and Jenny’s family. They provided regular updates on the trip’s progress and worked together to address any challenges that arose. This continuous communication ensured Jenny’s safety and allowed her to fully enjoy her adventure.

This exciting milestone for Jenny demonstrates Hope’s powerful role in the lives of individuals with disabilities, allowing them to explore and achieve their dreams with exceptional support.
