Bringing HopeTHRIFT stores online has been a goal of Chip Huggins, President/CEO of Hope Services, that has been realized this past April after working through logistics and details.

Items that have been donated at stores or donations sites are evaluated for their condition and value and go to one of the three “brick & mortar” locations or the online storefront, HopeCOMMERCE. The HopeCOMMERCE site is set up to browse by category, or shoppers may click to go through the eBay storefront, or click to shop books on Amazon. New items are added daily, and are typically collectibles, vintage & rare items, books, toys, video games, jewelry, electronics, designer clothing & accessories.

Kevin Pearson, e-Commerce Manager has been working at Hope Services as a THRIFT store manager while also building partnerships with eBay & Amazon. When asked the most interesting or most expensive items sold through HopeCOMMERCE Kevin noted “I think the most interesting item that we sold last month was a Peruvian Chacay Pottery Cup, and the most expensive we have sold was a Ducado Women’s gold watch for $665.50.”

HopeTHRIFT’s online presence is a benefit to a growing group of consumers who feel comfortable incorporating secondhand items into their holiday shopping list. Once taboo, the pre-owned market is increasingly seen as a savvy way for shoppers to save money, discover harder-to-find items and reduce their carbon footprint.
